The areas that matter most
Pedestrian routes are narrow, uneven and often shaded, so they freeze first and thaw last. We treat them by hand or with pedestrian spreaders, keeping salt off doorways, planting and paving where it isn't needed.
What we treat
- Footpaths and walkways between buildings
- Steps, ramps and handrail approaches
- Main and staff entrances
- Fire exits and assembly routes
- Bus stops, drop-off and pick-up points
- Crossings between car parks and buildings
Ideal for
Schools and colleges, hospitals and care homes, office campuses, apartment developments and any site where people walk further than they drive.

Frequently asked questions
Will salt damage my paving or entrance mats?
We use lower-residue blends near sensitive surfaces and keep salt clear of doorways and planting.
Can you treat footpaths only, without the car park?
Yes. Footpath-only contracts are common for schools, care homes and residential developments.
Do you grit public pavements outside my site?
Public footways are the responsibility of DfI Roads. We treat land within your boundary, and can treat access paths you are responsible for.
